Here’s how it works! Our classes are currently available to our doula clients exclusively.

Small group sessions (3-4 couples total) meeting in Pasadena, CA on a Saturdays each month. Workshops are six hours long.

FAQs

How many People attend each class?

There are around 3-4 couples in each childbirth or lactation class. We group our clients around their “due month”, so you can get to know other couples who are expecting around the same time.

Who facilitates the Workshops?

Dawn Batson, Rebecca Belenky, and Brana Ninkov. We are seasoned birth and postpartum doulas with decades of experience in supporting families in Los Angeles area hospitals, birth centers and homes.

How is this class different from other Birth Prep classes?

The class is created to be experiential and hands-on. It is not about our expertise, but about you tapping into your strengths as a person and a couple, to strengthen your ability to navigate the unpredictable journey of birth. There are no boring lectures or power points.

  • The way a baby moves through the pelvis can be influenced by maternal movements and stretches both prenatally and during labor. Though babies tend to fit regardless of the way they are facing, there are certain positions that tend to be easier and more efficient.

  • We keep ourselves up to date on the current research, and look to only the highest quality studies when passing along evidence to our clients.

  • According to Merriam-Webster, alchemy is a power or process that changes or transforms something in a mysterious or impressive way. Jung stated “Alchemy describes, not merely in general outline but often in the most astonishing detail, the same psychological phenomenology which can be observed in the analysis of unconscious processes.”

    We witness this transformation regularly, and yet rarely find this aspect of parenthood discussed in the birth world.
